How Much Does it cost to…….
Over the years, the most frequent asked question…”How Much does it cost to….?” The bottom line is that we all want to know what we are going to pay for any product we purchase. Renovating our homes is often much different than purchasing a new washer or lawn tractor! However; an experienced contractor should be able to provide accurate baseline pricing for most projects. The larger the project the more difficult it is to price without plans in place. For example, a 5’ x 8’ Hall bath project including a new Tub, toilet, vanity/top and bath fixtures with tile on the floor and tub walls to the ceiling will almost always run $22-24k in most homes when priced by a professional contractor. the opposite side of the coin, a 600 sq. ft. two-story addition could cost $150k or 200k based on design and what might be included.
Working with a contractor that will take the time to develop a detailed contract that covers all facets of the project is important. The most frustrating report I hear from my clients is that they thought they had a deal until the add-ons piled up. Every contractor conducts themselves differently and many have different business models. I suggest that when gathering information, if there is a surprisingly low number , it may not include everything the other quotes provide.
The professional, experienced contractor (or sales consultant) will most always be able to offer initial baseline pricing on most projects. This pricing may not be the final cost, based on selections and design, but should give you an accurate starting point to begin making informed choices that will benefit you and your family.
